Bruce
Hocker, WR, Duquesne
The 6-1 senior played with Penn State star Derek Williams at
Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. The MAAC co-offensive
player of the year in 2006, Hocker caught 61 passes for 1,070
yards and school record-tying 16 touchdowns. His touchdown total
tied the DU school record set by Reggie Harris in 2000.
Corey Lacek, LB, Slippery Rock
The North Hills grad led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference
and ranked fifth nationally in tackles for loss with a school-record
28 for minus-125 yards during the 2006 season. Lacek, who transferred
to the Rock after a season at West Liberty, ranked second in the
PSAC and was tied for 28th nationally in quarterback sacks with
nine for minus-87 yards.
Tim McCutcheon, C, California
The anchor of Cal's offensive line, McCutcheon (Quaker Valley)
was named second-team Little All-America by the Associated Press
and first-team American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division
II All-American last season.
Mychal Savage, DT, Youngstown State
A first-team All-Gateway pick as a sophomore, Savage (6'2" 290)
had an impressive campaign last year, finishing with 54 total
tackles, including 5.5 for losses. The New Rochelle, NY native
played a year at Hargrave Military Academy before joining the
Penguins program.
Jimmy Simmons, DT, Clarion
A Tennessee native, Simmons was named NCAA Division II All-Northeast
Region first team by Don Hansen Football Gazette. Simmons totaled
70 tackles, ranked second in the NCAA with 27 tackles for loss,
and he led the PSAC and NCAA in solo TFL's with 21.
Josh Whiteside, K, Allegheny
Whiteside was recently named to Lindy's College Football Magazine
2007 All-Division III first team. The Upper St. Clair native was
nearly perfect on his field goal attempts a season ago, hitting
6-of-7, with the lone miss coming with a block against Wabash.
Among his six makes was a 47-yard field goal, the third longest
in school history, in the driving wind and rain against Ohio Wesleyan
University. The senior was also 37-of-40 on extra point attempts.
He was named to the d3football.com All-North Region first team,
First Team All-NCAC and Second Team All-North Region from Don
Hansen Football Gazette.
Kyle Witucki, TE, Edinboro
The Highlands High School product has been named to Lindy's
College Football Preview 2007 Preseason Division II All-American
Team. The 6'3", 255 pound tight end was accorded second team Daktronics
All-American honors and was an honorable mention All-American
choice by D2Football.com and Football Gazette after hauling in
31 passes for 455 yards with 5 TDs.
