Coming To Town

Who: Bryant Dunston
What: Fordham forward
When: Jan. 9, 7 PM
Where: A.J. Palumbo Center
Why Do I Care: This Queens native has been one of the most consistent players in the A-10 since he arrived as a freshman in 2004. A four-year starter, Dunston has averaged 13.6 points and 7.0 rebounds over his career. He's averaged double-figures every season.

Who: Roy Hibbert
What: Georgetown center
When: Jan. 14, 7 PM
Where: Petersen Events Center
Why Do I Care: Hibbert is probably the best big man in college basketball today. The 7-2, 275-pounder returned to the Hoyas rather than enter the NBA Draft this season, and he has Georgetown back among the nation's elite. Watching Hibbert match-up with Pitt freshman DeJuan Blair will be one of the most anticipated battles of the month.

Who: Ta'Shia Phillips
What: Xavier center
When: Jan. 22, 7 PM
Where: A.J. Palumbo Center
Why Do I Care: Indiana's "Miss Basketball" following her senior season, Phillips is perhaps the most highly regarded freshman in women's basketball this season. At press time, Phillips led the Atlantic 10 in rebounding with nearly 13 a game, in addition to scoring 14 points per contest. She has been the A-10 Rookie of the Week EVERY WEEK THIS SEASON.

Who: Angel McCoughtry
What: Louisville forward
When: Jan. 27, 2 PM
Where: Petersen Events Center
Why Do I Care: McCoughtry is the reigning Big East Women's Player of the Year and currently leads the conference in scoring at 25 points per game. This summer, she helped the United States win their first gold medal in the Pan Am Games since 1987, leading the Americans in scoring with 12.6 points per game.

Who: Angel Escobedo
What: Indiana wrestler
When: Jan. 27, 1 PM
Where: Lorenzo Wrestling Complex
Why Do I Care: Escobedo, currently ranked No. 2 in the nation at 125 pounds, leads the Hoosiers into State College. Penn State's Mark McKnight will square off against Escobedo in what will be the day's most anticipated match. Indiana also features 157-pounder Brandon Becker and 165-pounder Matt Coughlin.

Who: Scottie Reynolds
What: Villanova guard
When: Jan. 30, 7 PM
Where: Petersen Events Center
Why Do I Care: The Big East rookie of the year last season, Reynolds is an explosive scorer capable of playing either guard position. Crafty with the basketball, especially on drives to the basket, he is an accomplished 3-point shooter with range well beyond the arc. He will test Pitt's backcourt like no one else has this season.
